The quaint farming town of Delmas is located in Mpumalanga, just north-east of Springs and south-east of Pretoria. The town is known for producing maize, wheat, potatoes, and chickens in the region. AFGRI also runs a chicken abattoir in the town. Also rich in coal, Delmas Coal and Delmas Stuart Coal mines add to the economy of the province. 

Delmas is an important railway junction on the Springs to Witbank rail-line. This line connects to the Port of Richards Bay.

A brief history of the area
Delmas was laid out in 1907 on the farm Witklip (Afrikaans for White Stone). It has been administered by a town council since 1965. Delmas was named by the Frenchman Frank Campbell Dumat, former owner of Witklip, after his grandfather's farm in France. It was derived from the French de la mas, meaning 'small farm'. 

The town was originally laid out with 192 residential stands, 48 4 ha smallholdings and 138 ha of commonage. By 1909 the governments added a further 5,500 ha to the town.
