HARTENBOS is an extremely popular seaside resort village with golden beaches and clear blue waters that started as a holiday resort for the 'South-African Railways and Harbours'- employees in the 1930's. This resort then was later bought by the ATKV - 'Afrikaanse Taal en Kultuur Vereniging' and has since become a thriving and town associated with the Mossel Bay local municipality - which was consecutively awarded being the best Municipality in the country in 2019 & 2020!

During the festive holiday season, the tranquil town of Hartenbos spontaneously transforms into a spectacular colourful and lively resort with an abundance of activities, performing artist's hosting open air concerts, beach activities, street vendors and restaurants, flea markets etc. The fast amount of holiday resorts, caravan parks and holiday homes exchange their vacant status to accommodate holiday makers from all corners of the country, family reunions and friendly neighbouring faces!

Resident' and visitors alike make the most of the mediterranean climate and enjoy angeling and taking long walks on the beach. The shallow, sandy lagoon is a popular retreat for swimming, canoeing, kite surfing and long being associated with the traditional and colourfull paddle boats that is for hire!
