A brief history of the area
Kempton Park lies on what was two Boer farms. The first farm was Zuurfontein No 369 with the title deed issued to Johannes Stephanus Marais in 1859. Rietfontein 32 IR was registered to Cornelius Johannes Beukes in 1865. The city was established in 1903 when Zuurfontein was subdivided into 216 residential stands. It was named Kempten after the German town in Bavaria, and later to Kempton Park.
