Vryburg is an industrial and agricultural hub located in the North West Province. This large town is in the heart of cattle farming country, the Bophirima region. A brief history of the area
The site for a new township was selected in 1882 and was named Endvogelfontein. However, later in the year, the name was changed to Vryburg. The citizens of the township proclaimed that they were free, referring to themselves 'vryburgers', meaning 'free citizens'.
In December newly laid out plots were apportioned and by February 1883 some 400 farms had been established. On 16 August 1883, the town was established as the capital of the Republic of Stellaland, with G.J. van Niekerk as the first and only president. By 1884 the town consisted of about 20 houses.
Vryburg still boasts rich historical venues with many national monuments, including a stone church built in 1904 by the London Missionary Station.

The warmest month of the year is January, with an average temperature of 24.8 °C, while July is the coldest month, with temperatures averaging 9.3 °C. The 30 km two-day hiking trail is a must for the avid-adventurer.
